Regarding credit card milage points for free flights?
My wife and I will be flying to Miami from LA in December. I have enough points for one free flight. Can I purchase ($) a ticket through credit card travel agency or do i go through the airline AND (this is important) will we be able to sit together on the same plane? This is a burning question! I see that there are pleanty of seats on this particular flight, both coming and going. Thanking you all in advance for your answers.
I use to work for Capital One rewards and this program does not set aside a certain amount of seats if the flight is available they will purchase your ticket for you. It would be in your best interest to purchace your wife’s ticket first either thru an agency or directly with the airline after you have purchased her ticket then call your reward company to get your free ticket. The reason I say purchase your wife’s ticket first is because if you do the free ticket first you may depleete the lower fare from your reward ticket and the purchased ticket could turn out to be more expensive than expected. If you book your wifes ticket on the airline’s website you should be able to view the seat map and determine where you want to sit. Then after booking your wifes trip immediately book the reward ticket and ask them to assign your preferred seat next to your wife. If you fail to do any of this just get the 2 different confirmation codes after booking and call the airline directly to have them assign the seats and this is very important make sure the airline has cross refrenced your reservations because there will be several schedule changes between now and December and there is the likelihood that you could be re accomodated on seperate flights. The airline will add a note to each record “to complete party of 2 travel with xxxxxx” this is called cross refrencing in the event of a schedule change you will be kept together also in the event of a schedule change verify your seat assignments with the Airline directly.
