How does the airlines credit cards work for air miles?
I live in Hawaii and plan on making frequent trips to California. I looked up how many miles it is between here and Cali, it said 2,502 miles.
The card gives me 20K miles after first purchase. Plus 2 miles for every dollar spent on the airlines. 1 mile per dollar spent on anything. 2K miles on anniversary. 1 Time 25% discount round trip for you and companion between mainland and Hawaii.
The interest is 15.24% and late fees of $25. IF I get this card I plan on paying everything within 2 weeks in advance. Will only use the card if I have the money to make the purchase. So interest and late fees isn’t a problem.
My question is, how does the air miles work? Do I get a free trip after my first purchase since I get 20K miles and its only 5K miles roundtrip to mainland and back?
Or what is a better card?
No it doesn’t work that way. Airline miles are acrrued by the actual number of miles you fly, award travel is based on an arbitrary number that keeps going up. The number of frequent flyer miles needed to get a standard award from or to Hawaii on United Airlines is 80,000 miles although they do have saver awards for less.
